Frequently Asked Questions

  • I am always happy to offer phone consultations if you need more information before meeting for the first session. Once we set up a time for our intake session, we will meet and go over the intake paperwork and other important information. We will start to talk through and process what has brought you into the session and what your goals are.

  • Absolutely not! My job is to lead my clients, so I come prepared with questions. Some of my favorite and best sessions have been when clients came in without something to talk about. Typically, my sessions include less talking and more noticing, playing, and exploring internal sensations and images.

  • A standard session is considered 50 minutes.

If billing through insurance, a session lasts anywhere from 45 to 53 minutes.

I also offer intensives, which can be helpful and recommended for clients looking to go deeper without feeling rushed. You can find out more information, and if you might be a good fit, under the services tab.

  • For the first few months I typically recommend meeting weekly, in order to build rapport and consistency. With that being said, I will always honor each client’s schedule and needs.

Once consistent progress has been made, the frequency can be scaled back. It is always a collaborative conversation, and can always be adjusted based on the client’s preferences!

  • I am a trauma-informed therapist. I have training in EMDR and SomEx, both of which are used in treating trauma. SomEx combines somatic and experiential practices to bring awareness and attention to internal cues and information. Sessions typically include elements of mindfulness, play, and safety building to allow our bodies to "discharge” stuck energy.

  • I love this question! It can be really hard to pick a therapist because, if we are being honest, we are all fairly similar. Most of us can make you feel safe, seen, and work through presenting issues. What makes me different is the way I show up in sessions. I typically will be in workout clothes because I am either coming from or going to a workout class, because that is a huge part of my self-care. I find ways to relate to my clients, which might mean talking about my dogs or my own work through body image issues. Lastly, I am a Type 1 Diabetic, and my phone may “buzz” during sessions to communicate both important and non-important information. I will quickly and quietly take care of what I need to and bring my attention back to the session.
